I'm selling a Yamaha WX7 MIDI wind controller in good condition. This is a very nice piece of vintage gear that can be seen even today on stages not just because was a reference on wind controllers but also becaus at it's time won "good design gold awards". Its a nice looking MIDI instrument and a competent one, as shows its commercial success along the decades.

I'm not the most competent guy to talk about it. I'm from the synth tribe... This controller came to me from a change in gear as a complement. It's time to go to a competent Sax player.
Please look in my listings for a very nice WT11 FM sound module which has great synth sounds to be controlled by the WX7!

The Yamaha WX7 is a woodwind-oriented MIDI wind controller. The fingerings are based upon saxophone fingerings, with a few major differences, such as the 5 octave keys for the left thumb (2 down, 3 up, and a home (neutral) position), which makes for 6 octaves. There are also alternate fingerings such that one can cover 7 full octaves.

The instrument sends MIDI note-on messages, with appropriate velocities, via a breath-pressure sensor. Breath pressure can be mapped to instrument volume (CC#7) for those synthisizers, which don't listen to breath pressure (CC#2) via a DIP switch located on the back, above the left thumb. The other DIP switches include Aftertouch mapping for CC#2, Eb / Bb / 8va key changing, key hold mode (same-note or parallel), breath response curve, and loose/normal lip bend mode.

There are four trim pots on the instrument, just above the DIP switches:

Wind Zero

Wind Gain

Lip Zero and

Lip Gain.

These four trim potentiometers make it possible to tailor the response of the WX7 to your personal preference, such as how your sax responds.
There are also plugs included with the instrument so that you can change the blowing resistance to suit your preferences.
