Building on the success of the 124, the beautifully styled TD-125 carried the Thorens banner through the seventies, and is widely regarded as Germany’s finest domestic turntables from the Golden Age. Built to last, simply styled, and immediately recognizable, it's no surprise the TD-125 remains at the top of collectors' lists. This beautiful example has been serviced from top to bottom - literally. Fitted with the highly regarded vintage SME3009, atop a custom white armboard and plinth, this must be one of the nicest TD-125 you're likely to find.

Among collectors, the hot Thorenses include the TD 124 at the top irrespective of one’s audio politics, the TD 150 for realists (and for me, the most important turntable in audio history after the AR Universal), and – for those lucky enough to be filthy rich and tenacious – the later Reference and Prestige behemoths. All are superlative decks, but the TD 125 just may be the most balanced, the sanest compromise, and the easiest with which to live. - Tone
