For sale is a McIntosh MAC 1900 Stereo AM/FM receiver that has been completely recapped and refurbished for many more years of reliable, trouble free operation. Details of the restoration are detailed below. We posted this unit previously and after it sold, it was returned without even being opened by the purchaser. However it was damaged slightly in return shipping and we had to deal with a lengthy battle with the shipping company. So we finally have the unit back, have gone over the unit with a fine toothed comb and recertified the operation of everything. It is still 100% fully functional and no truly major damage occurred. The original ad is posted after our description of all of the shipping damage (which is relatively minimal)
The most obvious issue is the top right corner took a hit. Also the front source selector knob took a hit and is slightly skewed. It still works perfectly and is just stiff when trying to choose the tape monitor functions. Lastly rear the fuse holder is just slightly cocked but otherwise is perfectly intact and functional. The last four pics should detail all of these issues up close. Otherwise this is an incredibly nice unit cosmetically!

For sale is a fully restored one owner McIntosh MAC1900 stereo receiver that is in gorgeous condition. Please study the pics carefully, you have to get nitpicky to find the flaws in this one! The unit was actually in functioning condition before the restoration, but there are some known troublesome components in these receivers we like to address before they become bigger issues!
First the power supply is rebuilt from the ground up with all new diodes, capacitors and resistors (except the two large main filter caps which we have never had to replace on ANY Mcintosh product ever!). Then all of the electrolytic and tantalum capacitors are replaced throughout the entire unit with ultra high quality Nichicon and Panasonic electrolytic and film capacitors. Every board is removed, any potentially/known faulty components replaced alongside the capacitors, all solder joints are inspected and all connectors are deoxited before reinstalling. The power amp transistors were removed, cleaned and reinstalled with new silpads. The the AM and FM tuners were aligned after being rebuilt and perform wonderfully in all aspects. Lastly every bulb in the unit is replaced with high quality LEDs (which run cooler and last forever) and the entire unit is detailed inside and out.
The overall performance of this 1900 is pure Mcintosh through and through. The phono stage has incredible detail and the AM as well as the FM tuner perform incredibly well. FM MPX sounds amazing as well. The power amp has plenty of juice (rated conservatively at 55WPC into 8 Ohms) and has that classic wide bandwidth McIntosh sound with plenty of low end boom and amazing high end detail and clarity. The tone controls are simple yet effective. There are plenty of online reviews that praise this gem of a receiver from McIntosh!
The one issue we we're not able to rectify is when the tape monitor button is pressed, you can hear both whatever source is on and whatever is coming into the tape monitor at the same time. However if the regular selector knob is set to tape input 1 or 2, the tape inputs (as well as all other inputs and features) work normally. We tested the other MAC1900 we have in stock and it has some signal bleed as well when tape monitor is depressed, but it's not quite as bad as this unit.
The item will be packaged and shipped carefully using UPS with full insurance.
