I've had this bass since 2008 and it's treated me exceptionally well the entire time. Fully carved, but I have not had a seam open or a crack form since about 2012 despite no regular damp-it or humidifier use! Just brought it to Seth at David Gage's shop for a look-over and a cleaning, and he found no issues with it. He said it was worth about $8000, I'm selling for $6000 or best offer in the interest of time.

Standard 3/4 scale (I think 42" strings), but the body is a bit oversized (I use a 7/8 mooradian case which will be included). It was made by Fred Lyman in NJ in 1978, I guess he made a piccolo bass for Ron Carter around that time as well.

I'm selling because I haven't played orchestral or even much jazz for several years now, currently mostly playing doo-wop and country gigs, and hoping to downgrade to a plywood instrument more appropriate for the music. I've had the same set of Eva Pirastro strings on it for over 10 years and this bass honestly deserves better! It's got such a rich, full sound with strong mid range frequencies that shine when bowed and plucked.

There are some cracks in the headstock that were repaired before I bought it, and they've never given me trouble. Besides that, there a couple tiny pockmarks on the front of the bass, but only visible if you really get in close. Tried to include clear pics of both of these.

I'm super sad and a little hesitant to let this bass go, but it hasn't really made sense for me for a long time and would love to see it go to someone who will use it to it's potential.

Last thing, here's an album I made a few years ago where every track is this bass (bowed only) in case you wanna hear it in action -
