Very rare string synth from Godwin, I think made in the 70s and very much in the Solina mould, the String Concert 249 gives the vintage analogue sound and authentic look.
Built in to a tolex case with removable lid and carry handle, which is all in excellent condition with no tears or scuffs, this is a classic analogue string machine with a 4 octave keyboard and hands-on controls for all parameters. Cello, Viola, and Violin voices are 16', 8' and 4' so each 1 octave apart and each layer has a volume slider. There are master treble and bass sliders, Attack and Release settings, and master volume, as well as the unique and dreamy Chorus/Tremolo section with separate sliders for each (rather than the simple on/off switch of say the Solina) giving the ability to vary the classic analogue chorus effect from subtle to swirling and thick.
The cosmetic condition of the synth is generally excellent for its age (see photos), with only 1 slider cap missing, and a crack in the the power switch (again, see close up photos), which does make it a bit delicate and must be moved carefully, but does work and illuminates, though repair/replacement might be advisable at some stage. I leave it switched on and power off from master power relay to avoid too much switching. The keys have only yellowed a bit, as is to be expected in a synth of this age, and the action is regular and responsive.
Back panel has IEC power (220V) Hi and Lo level outputs and a small tuning knob.
Everything works as expected, and this is a lovely sounding string machine, and an authentic and flexible addition to any set-up.
Youtube video link is not the unit listed, but sounds exactly the same, so will give you an idea of some of the sounds it can make.
