The "Ami" is a wonderful parlor guitar, made in Canada, under the Art and Luther label, by Godin.

Handcrafted, it features a solid cedar top combined with wild cherry back and sides. The neck is silver leaf maple with a rosewood fretboard.

Overall it's in great shape -- physically, in terms of playability, and the quality of tone.

From Godin....

All Art & Lutherie guitars are handcrafted from start to finish in Canada. Being able to say these words and truthfully mean it, is something we are very proud of in this day and age!

VISION

The concept for the Art & Lutherie guitar is to take the essential components of the best hand-crafted guitars, such as solid tops, quality craftsmanship and beautiful finishes and build these features into guitars that could be priced within the reach of working musicians. Every Art & Lutherie acoustic guitar is handcrafted in the small town of Princeville, Québec Canada in a positive and safe environment beneficial to producing exceptional acoustic guitars. Each model is made with the painstaking attention to tone, detail and authentic craftsmanship.

TONE

The Canadian tone woods used in the Art & Lutherie line possess excellent tonal qualities. We use only select pressure tested Solid Sitka Spruce Tops, Wild Cherry back and sides and Silver Leaf Maple necks. Wild Cherry has a sound somewhere between the mellow tone of Mahogany and the bright sound of Maple. Silver Leaf Maple, whose characteristics for sound, weight and density are incredibly similar to that of Mahogany, makes for a tonally sound and very stable neck.

RELIABILITY

The entire Art & Lutherie Collection features back & sides made from a 3-layer solid wood lamination of Wild Cherry and Silver leaf maple necks. This ensures each guitar produces exceptional tone and still exhibits the stability to hit the road, making them a great “workhorse” of a guitar that you can depend on and enjoy for years.

RESPONSIBILITY

We are committed to sustainably sourcing all of our wood and continuously strive to reduce our overall environmental impact as a company. All of our Art & Lutherie guitars are made with 95% Canadian woods that meet strict criteria in terms of their tone as well as their impact on the environment. The eco-friendly method in which the wood is gathered, takes place when previously fallen trees are found in the forests of Canada. No clear cutting is involved. This not only benefits Canadian forests but also gives rain forests the world over a well-deserved break. By having our facilities powered by hydroelectricity, to using only reclaimed wood and working with forestries that impose strict replanting models, every little positive initiative helps develop a better world of tomorrow.
