A Fender Coronado II Antigua hollow body electric guitar. - 1968

***Make sure to visit my reverb shop to see 24 of my recent listings that range from impossible to "are you freaking kidding me!?"***

Here's a guitar you will either love or hate. No tweeners for this one! I think the finish is damn cool. But just like the Trump/Hillary debate, there won't be too many that sit on the fence. For those of you out there (like me), that love this finish the bad news is that they don't come up very often. They certainly don't come up in this condition. Besides some crazing lines in the finish there aren't any bumps and bruises. This guitar plays just like you would expect. Rich, full tones that support great music whether you play jazz, swing, country or rock. John "The Drummer" says that it sounds so good that he would even play in front of people with it. Now if you don't know John "The Drummer", then you wouldn't know that John plays pretty crappy guitar and he's not into much flash so that's a pretty big statement coming out of his mouth.

Here's the tale of the tape:

  • Designed by Roger Rossmeisl (who had previously also designed instruments for Rickenbacker)
  • Produced from 1966 through 1972
  • A true hollow-bodied electric guitar (No central solid wood block)
  • Maple body
  • High Gloss Nitrocellulose Lacquer Finish
  • Relatively thin 'C'-shaped bolt-on maple neck
  • Rosewood fingerboard
  • DeArmond pickups

Irrelevant Wikipedia information:

The Coronado gained significant attention when used by Elvis Presley in the 1968 film Speedway, performing the song 'There Ain't Nothing Like a Song' with Nancy Sinatra in the final scene and is the only guitar used by Elvis within the entire film. Rossmeisl's Fender-creations were also used by Elvis in a separate film 'Clambake' where the Fender Wildwood is seen in two scenes.
