The Saturnworks 3-channel active summer with switches takes three inputs and combines them to one output, with on/off switches on each channel.
While simple and inexpensive, a downside of passive mixers is that they always have some degree 'cross-talk.' In other words, if you turn one channel down, the other can get slightly softer. Our active mixer features zero cross talk, which means that turning down one channel won't affect the level of the others at all.
Saturnworks active summers are designed to combine a wide array of inputs: guitar, bass, synth, drum machines, etc.
Passive summers can also have issues with input impedance mismatch. For example, if you try to combine a guitar with a synth (instrument level + line level) with a passive summer, you may experience volume issues. In some cases, the stronger signal can even cancel out the weaker one. The active 3-channel summer pedal balances the signals' mismatched impedance, meaning you can various signal types without levels issues or crosstalk.
Please note: unlike their passive cousins, active summers cannot be used in reverse as splitters. If you're looking for a splitter, please check out our wide selection of Saturnworks active and passive splitters.
