Phil X of Bon Jovi - Limited Edition Yamaha SG1801PX

Here we have one of only 12 limited edition guitars made by Yamaha for Phil X's initial signature run in the Canadian market.  I was able to pick this up from KAOS Music in Canada on the initial run to add to my collection.  It has never been gigged and never left my smoke-free home studio...only played for a few minutes.  Rare opportunity here to own one of the 12!!!

Phil is an amazing guitar player and probably the coolest guy I've ever met...and as anyone who knows his story of filling in for Richie Sambora for the last several years he has now been named as an official member of the band! Congrats Phil!!!

Per Fretted Americana here's the story of this guitar:

In December 2012 Yamaha produced the Phil X signature model SG1801PX. Only 12 limited edition models were made (all sold) feature some unique features.  Fitted in the bridge position was a single Arcane PX90 pickup, even though there was only one pickup fitted in the the guitar, it is still routed for a neck pickup, selector switch and full set of tone knobs.  Phil insisted on this because even though the components aren't fitted he believes the cavities for them still have an effect on tone.  The one-pickup design also adds an effect on tone per Phil as the pull from the magnets on the neck pickup aren't there. The headstock features Phil's signature and at the 12th fret an X logo hails for the Man himself!  Each model has the neck pickup replaced with the pickup base plate in the cavity...one of Phil's guitars (see video) had a hand-carved figure of Dirty Sanchez by Stephen McSwain :-)
