Here we go. THE holy grail microphone preamps and EQ: vintage Neve 1089/1073. Every function on these channel strips perform flawlessly (phase, phantom, DI, EQ circuit etc...) I think a pair of these beats anything else, it takes the place of SO much gear.
A brief history on the 1089 preamp... 1089's were commissioned by Spanish broadcast. The ONLY difference is that they requested the gain trim to be in reverse (less gain as you turned the stepped attenuator clockwise). Therefore, when Neve built these modules per Spanish broadcast request, they designated them the "1089". However, When Brent Averill racked these, he reversed this. They now sound and function identical to a 1073.
These channel strips are racked as single units and come equipped with a dual power supply. All cabling included for plug and play operation. Nothing beats vintage Neve mic pres and EQ. Truly a notch above the rest and proven to make a great investment. I love Brent's power supplies.
I purchased these directly from Brent and recently had them recapped, serviced, and calibrated by Steve Veilleux at SVT Audio. They were racked up safe and sound at Tiny Telephone SF before we closed. They were used on HUNDREDS of amazing records: Sleater-Kinney, Tunyeards, The Mountain Goats, Deerhoof, Death Cab For Cutie, the list is endless.
