1959 Echoplex Prototype Tube Tape Delay Unit - The Original Echo" by Don Dixon, First One Ever!

For sale is this one-of-a-kind 1959 Echoplex prototype. This is it. The singular device that started it all. This prototype, refined by Mike Battle, was made by guitarist Don Dixon in 1959. Years later Dixon's design would be made famous by Jimmy Page, Brian May, Neil Young, Chet Atkins, Duane Allman, and even Miles Davis. Without this homemade, small portable silver metal box, with the simple moniker " Echo" " on the front panel, the sounds and songs by the aforementioned artists just wouldn't be the same. The Echoplex isn't just a tube tape delay, it saturates and textures tone, making it a sound all its own.
The sale includes photos of Dixon signing this exact unit (negatives included). This Echo" somehow remains ALL original. The Elecrostat potentiometer dated early '59 (140 917) is the only indication of production date, which corresponds perfectly with the history provided via Wikipedia and other online sources. It has been in storage since 2006, but we  recently had Mark Sampson completely service this back to original working spec. Yep, it works, and yep it works like a prototype. This is a serious museum piece, and this is most certainly a once in a lifetime opportunity to buy the original Echoplex prototype, the only one of its kind known to be in existence.
